Wentworth Season 8 aired on Foxtel in July 2020. It aired from 28 July to 29 September.

Wentworth Season 8, starts with the prison coping in the post traumatic era post the violent siege that claimed three lives, the re-building process of their lives starts again but nothing is at it seems.
With new General Manager in Ann Reynolds (Wentworth) at the helm taking over the disgraced Derek Channing she begins to bring Wentworth out of it's financial hole by bringing the budget back in the green. Ann's harsh stance on the prisoners rubs Governor Will Jackson (Wentworth) the wrong way who threatens to resign because he can't work with her, but changes his mind in the end.
Will and Linda have received full promotions to Governor and Deputy respectfully as Ann manages to bring back Vera as Industries Manager who is juggling life between the prison and being a mother with Jake trying to make the prison safer for his family,
While other guard Linda Miles broken by the siege becomes tougher and more hardened by the horror endured in the siege that she crosses a line and struggles with life post the horrific siege that her personality turns dark. Linda is later diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder after being suspended from duty for hitting an inmate. Linda threatens to sue for the department as she fights for reinstatement, and she is of course reinstated.
While Joan Ferguson's story of survival comes to light, as she had help from disgraced prison officer Brenda Murphy, Joan relishes a new identity as Kath Maxwell, a homeless woman whom she killed. When Joan is attacked by Joe Hoxton she is taken to hospital where the police reveal to Will, Vera and Jake, that Ferguson has lived. Joan believes she is Kath Maxwell after waking up from a coma, and is sent back to Wentworth, only to realise the entire prison wants her dead.
Rita in protective police custody after revealing Marie's protector at the end of last season, she yearns to speak with Ruby, which she cannot do. But when Ruby breaks day release to see her, Rita has no choice but to go on the run after shooting dead former handler Detective Morelli, while protecting her sister.
While life is turned upside for Marie as she is released from the slot to the protection unit, and into general, she is hated by the staff and inmates over the siege. Marie finally manages to put her vendetta against Ruby in the past and drops her hatred toward her, but former lover Allie who is now top dog, has to deal with former top dog Lou Kelly returning to the compound with partner in crime Reb Keane.
