Collins listens to the nurse who tells him Ferguson has a severe head injury and has been in a coma

Joan's memories play out from her memories of being governor to her memory of being in Sinclair as Joan is in the ICU at hospital where ICU Nurse Sarah Edwards is speaking with Senior Detective Collins about Joan. Edwards says that Joan arrived at the hospital with a severe head injury (skull fracture) and that she had surgery to remove a hematoma, the nurse also says that her ID said she was Kath Maxwell when she was brought in. Collins asks what the prognosis is and Edwards replies that she could wake up tomorrow or never as the nurse also asks if Collins knows her.

Vera goes to the governors office where Will is sitting and she sees both Detectives Collins and Hydari both there and Collins tells Vera to come in and Vera closes the door. Collins tells Vera what he is about to tell her is going to come as a shock. He tells her Joan Ferguson is alive. Vera is stunned and she just says "what?" Collins reveals that she turned up alive but she is in a coma, Vera asks how is that possible since Ferguson was buried in a box that was deep in the ground. Hydari reveals that the police had known for some time that it wasn't Ferguson in the box and that DNA analysis told them that, Vera is angry and said that they didn't tell them that, both detectives say that they didn't want that information getting out and they wanted to lure her out and let her guard down but not in the way they wanted. Vera asks them then why are they there just to inform them about it, Hydari says no and Collins says that they need a formal ID and it can only be done by someone who knew her. As Vera walks with the detectives in the hospital they walk into ICU. Collins walks over to the curtain and he moves it and walks over to Joan as Vera walks over and sees Ferguson for the first time since the escape. Collins asks Vera if she knows who 'that' is Vera looks on stunned.

"Joan Ferguson is alive"

Will watches Joan in the hospital as he sees her for his own eyes as Senior Detective Collins comes in and speaks to Will saying to him that he couldn't believe and had to see it for his own eyes, Will nods as Collins says that if Joan wakes up now and she gives a statement Derek Channing will be charged with her attempted murder with the possibility of more charges to come for Channing, Collins then says just how incompetent was Channing and he says if Channing had any balls then he would have just killed her and not try to run. Will leaves as Collins says to Joan 'I wonder what's going on inside that head of yours..' and he walks away. Joan in her coma is fighting the urge to 'go into the light' and in her governor form wants her to 'snap out' of her state as she is 'better' then the coma, as the ICU staff continue watching over Joan, none of them notice that Joan has begun to move her fingers, she is waking up.

Later Collins who is only expecting Vera see's that Jake and Will have come along as Joan who has awoken from her coma is drinking water and he asks Joan if she knows the three people standing in front of her, when she says no, she requests that she be called Kath Maxwell.
