Kate Atkinson (born 28 June, 1972) [1] is an Australian film, television and theatre actress. She is best known for her roles on television series SeaChange [2] as police officer Karen Miller and Offspring as Renee.[3]
Since 2013, she has appeared in a regular role in Wentworth as Deputy Governor (later Governor) Vera Bennett, Atkinson would be in the "Wentworth 4" being the only actor alongside Robbie Magasiva, Jacquie Brennan and Katrina Milosevic to appear in every season of the show since season 1 until the series wrapped filming for series 9 in 2020.
Since appearing in Wentworth Atkinson has appeared regularly at Wentworth events in the UK and in the US.
Kate has been prominent in theatre and Television for over 20 years with her roles on SeaChange and Wentworth being her breakout roles, Kate would also appear on Jack Irish, Kath and Kim twice, Japanese Story, Offspring and many more. Kate would join the cast of Wentworth in late 2012 when the series first went into production, Kate's main love is theatre and has performed both in Australia and in London.
