Top Dogs

Top Dog is a prison slang term for an inmate who is the boss of the other inmates. Some Top Dogs are voted in and take their roles responsibly, some force their way to the top and rule with violence and corruption. Linked with the position is the laundry job of using the press. Taking over the press, if you're a regular inamate, is essentially treated as a direct challenge of authority.
